Five Ways to Make Your Deliveries More Memorable

If you’re running a mail order business, you naturally want to impress your customers enough so that they’ll immediately think of you should they have a need for your kind of product again. After all, as the old credo has it, winning a new customer is great, but winning a regular customer is better.

There are a number of ways you can make sure that people have a positive memory of spending their money with you, and we at Davpack have enough experience impressing our own customers to feel confident about sharing some of what we’ve learned. If you don’t believe us, by the way, take a look at our Trustpilot page, where you’ll find that out of more than 2000 independent reviews, almost 90% have given us top marks.

In this article, we’re going to concentrate not on the sale or customer service, but on the moment that usually leaves the biggest impression of all – when the person receiving your parcel finally takes delivery. What can you do to help make that moment the best it can be? – here are five ideas that we think could make all the difference!

1 Get it to the customer on time
If your parcel arrives later than you said it would, chances are that you’re on a loser before your customer even sets eyes on it. So the first thing to remember is that you should never make promises you’re not reasonably confident you can keep. And the second thing to do, if you’re not able to personally deliver every order yourself, is to place your trust in a reliable courier, one who takes what promises you make to your customers as seriously as you do.

2 Pack it properly
Even worse than getting your order to your customer late is getting it to your customer broken. Now, there’s little you can do should your courier drop your parcel on the ground and then reverse his lorry over it – but do see the comment above about using a reliable courier – but aside from that, there are so many ways of protecting packaged goods these days that there is very little excuse for not doing it in a way that does so effectively. If you’re not sure of the best way to protect your product, just give us a call and let one of our experienced packaging experts go through your options for you.

Okay, we’ve talked about making a delivery memorable by ensuring you meet your customer’s expectations – now let’s see about bringing something extra to the table!

3 Stand out from the crowd
Your standard Jiffy bags, cardboard boxes, polythene mailing bags and postal boxes are all effective – and to us, much loved – postal packaging solutions, but they’re not exactly eye-catching, are they? In fact, they usually come in different shades of functional, but hardly funky, brown and grey. So why not give the look of your parcels a bit of a lift and throw some colour at them?

We have colour options on many of our postal packaging options, such as postal boxes, cardboard tubes and polythene mailing bags. We’ve also just introduced a particularly fun couple of ranges of padded, or bubble, envelopes. They offer the same protection as Jiffy bags, but rather than a kraft paper outside, they come with either a gloss or foil finish and in bright colours, including orange, pink, silver and purple.

4 Make it personal
I recently wrote a whole blog about personalised packaging, so I’m not going to go over the same ground again – just point out that Davpack can custom print your boxes, packing tape, strapping, retail packaging, tissue paper. In fact, there are many ways you can make sure that when your parcels land on your customers’ doormats they know at a glance who it’s from – and it gives your business a bit of a plug as it passes through each pair of hands en route.

5 Add a little luxury
Like our everyday boxes and bags, you can always use functional and effective bubble wrap or packing peanuts to fill out the space in your parcel and protect whatever’s inside. But it doesn’t have to be that way. Did you know, for example, that we not only sell deliciously soft acid free tissue paper, but that you can also buy it shredded, in colours like Forest Green, Cerise and Dark Blue, to provide a truly luxurious packaging experience. How much nicer is it to open a parcel to that, rather than a piece of bubble, even if popping the bubbles is one of your favourite things to do?

I hope this brief list has given you a few ideas on how to pep up your parcels, but if you’d like any more help in making your deliveries more memorable, don’t forget that you can always call our friendly and very helpful Sales team – the lines are open Monday to Friday, 8.30am to 5.00pm.
