These light duty gusseted polythene bags are manufactured from 12 micron / 48 gauge low density polythene and provide inexpensive dust and moisture protection. They are consequently used extensively for lining shipping crates and boxes, packaging agricultural products, computer software, food, industrial materials and mail order despatch items.
The expandable side gusset increases the volume of the bag enabling it to accommodate larger and bulkier materials than a traditional flat polythene bag. They can be heat sealed, taped or twist tied and are also available from stock in 3 other gauges:
Standard 30 micron / 120 gauge
Medium 50 micron / 200 gauge
Heavy Duty 100 micron / 400 gauge
The size of a side gusseted poly bag is always expressed as "x" wide opening to "y" wide times the length. E.g. if a bag is stated as 100 x 150 x 200mm this means it is 100mm wide when flat, opening to 150mm including the gusset, with a bag length of 200mm.
