101 Uses for Bubble Wrap: No 1 – Popping it
Okay, a lot of uses involve popping it in one way or another, but this is popping it for no other reason than because it’s there. No need for stress relief (we’ll come to that another time), just the sheer unadulterated pleasure of pushing on a bubble, feeling the tension give and hearing the pop. If you look closely at the left side of the Hell triptych in Hieronymous Bosch’s Garden of Earthly Delights, just beneath the man with his head in a bell, you’ll just about make out the image of a man bound hand and foot to a stake and tormented for eternity by being unable to pop a sheet of bubble wrap packaging hung directly in front of his face.
