With your help we’ll get it there faster!?
Davpack is first and foremost a supplier of packaging products and materials to industrial, commercial and retail companies across the UK. Most of these will be VAT registered and will have some form of commercial premises that are staffed throughout the working day.
Having said that, we have a fairly diverse range of Customers running and even more diverse range of businesses. Also, some of our products are particularly aimed at the private individual, like out removals boxes for example.
We’re also aware that many of our Customers are operating mail order businesses from their own homes via the internet, and are therefore going to need packaging to send their goods to their own Customers in turn. This is where we do sometimes encounter a slight problem.
Express delivery comes as standard
Delivering our products isn’t straight forward at the best of times; many of them are, by their very nature, fairly bulky and of not particularly high value. Bags of loose fill and rolls of bubble wrap, two of our best selling items, are particularly good examples!
We have our own vans to deliver to local addresses around Derby and Nottingham, but elsewhere it’s quicker and more efficient to use a courier, and, for their own protection, couriers will always need a signature on delivery to say that the parcels have arrived in good condition. (Incidentally, can I take this opportunity to remind you to please check your order before signing to say it’s okay!)
Over 95% of our orders are delivered safe and sound the next working day, and most of the rest are delivered just as safety the day after. On the rare occasion that delivery is not made within 48 hours, it’s nearly always as a result of logistical problems related to delivering to a residential address. And the reason is often because there’s no one in to sign for it!
Any special requests – we’re listening!
We’ll usually ask you, if you’re placing your order over the phone, if there are any special delivery instructions we need to pass on to our driver or courier – the sort of things we need to know are times you absolutely have to be away from your delivery address, restrictions on access for large trucks and so on. There’s also a place you’re prompted to give this information if ordering online. Drivers will leave deliveries in sheds, porches or garages if asked beforehand, but it might limit your chances of a successful claim if they are damaged.
Although we try to cover all the bases, we can’t account for all eventualities. Like the Customer who specifies next day delivery, but isn’t there to receive it; the person who expects the driver to transport ten packs of heavy duty cardboard boxes to the top storey of a high rise block of flats; and we’ve all made a five-minute dash to the corner shop for a pint of milk, only to discover on our return that the person we’ve been waiting in for all day has chosen that tiny window of opportunity to show up!
If you do have to go out unexpectedly, please leave a note on the door to advise the driver where he can safely leave your order (with a neighbour is usually the best option); it’s no good asking us to ring them at that stage I’m afraid, or asking them to ‘pop back in an hour’!
We’ll always do everything we can (and often more!) to make sure our Customers are completely happy with the service they get, from the minute they place their order to the minute they receive it. In the end, though, the only certain way of ensuring your order has the very best chance of being with you when you want it, is to ask it to be delivered to an address where you know they’ll be someone waiting and able to receive it!
