When you’re packing your products up to send to your customers, it’s no good just throwing everything into cardboard boxes and trusting to luck! All the ‘Fragile’ and ‘This Way Up’ labels in the world aren’t going to stop it getting a few bumps along the way. If you want your customer to receive your goods in the same condition as they left you, it’s all down to the packaging...

Function, form or fun?

The first question you want to ask yourself is exactly what you want your protective packaging to do. In other words, do you just want to keep the contents in one piece? If you’re sending off a gift item, you might want to use something bright and colourful that adds to the experience of opening the box. Or maybe you want to go for the option of using something that people can play with afterwards!

When it comes to straightforward, no-nonsense protection, it’s hard to beat good old loosefill (aka void fill, packing peanuts or flow pack). As well as protecting fragile and easily damaged items, it’s also extremely light, so won’t add to your mailing costs. And now it’s made out of 100% recycled material and is fully degradable, it’s looking after this fragile earth as much as it is the nation’s fragile post!

If you’re packaging a gift item, you’ll probably want to use something that’s a little easier on the eye, although just as soft to the touch and gentle to the planet. In that case, why not use some of our coloured acid free tissue paper? Our luxurious machine finished coloured tissue paper comes in 17 beautiful colours and is likely to cause as much pleasure to the recipient as the actual gift!

Fun, of course, comes in the shape of the ever-popular bubble wrap. It’s a strong-willed person that can resist popping all the bubbles before getting to whatever it was that it was wrapped around – which will, of course, be perfectly protected! Protective packaging comes in many varied forms and so far we’ve just scratched the surface of what we can offer (something that won’t happen to whatever you trust to its care!). Brown kraft paper rolls are strong, flexible and – like many of the packaging items we stock - fully recyclable, with some also being made from recycled paper. They also happen to look good, be cost effective and make excellent void fill when scrunched up.

Other options include polystyrene or foam sheets and foam rolls, which are great for keeping flat surfaces scratch and blemish free, as well as a wide range of edge and corner protectors that will ensure picture frames, doors, table tops, etc, are kept safe when in transit.

Lastly, offering a different kind of protection to all those previously mentioned, we also stock silica gel, which absorbs moisture to keep goods free from the damage that condensation, corrosion and fungus can wreak on food, pharmaceuticals, electrics and many more products.
