The TAKKT AG Group has created the initiative for all the companies involved in the group to make the uppermost effort to lessen their impact on the environment. On behalf of this ethos, Davpack has not only changed the way it recycles waste, introduced an ever-growing eco-friendly packaging range, and partnered with Eden Reforestation Projects to donate trees that will restore countless ecosystems, but we are now proud to announce that we now have a carbon-neutral website! We have recently received our certificate from ClimatePartner which verifies Davpack’s carbon neutrality and achievement of offsetting 47,711kg of CO2.
With technology and the internet rapidly enhancing and growing, the increased consumption of power has resulted in carbon (CO2) emissions to also heighten. That is why Davpack is happy to have made huge strides in becoming a carbon-neutral website. We want to be a company that plays an important role in reducing CO2 emissions, contributing to a greener environment with a better global climate for ourselves and future generations.
ClimatePartner is an incredible organisation that cares about the people of today and tomorrow. ClimatePartner’s mission is to commit every day to globally improving the living conditions of people, animals and the biosphere by taking ambitious climate action. Davpack has partnered with the group and partaken in one of their carbon offset projects - which help counteract the release of greenhouse gas emissions, whilst improving the livelihoods of local communities across the world. Davpack’s involvement in the carbon offset projects enables us to offset emissions that are currently unavoidable for our company’s environmental impact. Carbon offsetting has been deemed crucial in achieving the targets set by the Paris Agreement on climate change, and Davpack couldn’t be prouder to be a part of this amazing effort to change the current environmental standing.
Davpack’s carbon offset project includes helping increase the sustainability of Virunga National Park in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Unfortunately, the region’s natural resources, animals, and wood are exploited to benefit illegal charcoal trades. Illegal charcoal made from trees in the Virunga National Park is, for many civilians within the region, the only energy source they can acquire; 97 per cent of the population have no electricity in their home, and many others lack basic infrastructure. This is why Davpack’s involvement with ClimatePartner and their carbon offset projects is incredibly important, through reaching carbon neutrality, we have provided another energy source for the Virunga National Park. A small run-of-river hydroelectric power plant with a capacity of 13.6 MW has been built which generates electricity for 30,000 inhabitants alongside, another 5,000 households and many new small businesses being connected to the local power grid. If the region hadn’t have been supplied with this fuel alternative to charcoal, this forest would have been completely deforested in less than a decade. The first initial project was so successful that a second run-of-river power plant has been set up. The project has helped bring peace and stability to the region, meaning Davpack have assisted in the saving of animals, humans and the environment’s life.
